Turkish Telecom Companies

Like many countries in Eastern Europe and the Middle East, Turkey has become very reliant on mobile phones, with the Turkish telecom industry turning to a number of private companies to provide support networks and calling plans. At current count, there are estimated to be over sixteen million mobile phone users in the country, making long distance and local calls using the private networks. In comparison, over sixty million continue to use landlines, a number that is expected to drop as the mobile phones become even more popular.

While the private communication companies are entrusted with building the mobile network and sorting out all of the logistical issues, the oversight of this industry is still done by the state Telecommunications Authority, which is, in turn, run by the Ministry of Transport and Communications. With new developments, such as VOIP calling, many Turks are turning to the Internet for their communication needs. An estimated six million people have broadband connections and the capability to use the Internet to make phone calls. The use of the technology to make local calls mirrors other ways that the Turkish population have embraced the Internet.

With lower prices and an easy ordering system, some Turkish men have also started to use the Internet to visit online pharmacy websites and buy Viagra pills. The cheaper generic Viagra that is sold from these sites has become popular in the country and purchasing Viagra online has helped many men in the country with erectile dysfunction get over their fears about asking for a solution. From Turkish telecom to ED solutions, the country is finding varied use for the new and improved access to the Internet. Experts believe that the transition to a cloud based life will slowly come to Turkey, with more citizens using web services to fulfill basic needs, such as making local calls.
